Résumé: تعتبر الأمراض والأوبئة الفتاكة من المشاكل التي كانت تعصف بصحة الانسان منذ القديم، ولقد عزا العراقيون أسباب حدوث الأمراض إلى الشياطين والأرواح الشريرة التي تسلطها الآلهة على الناس لمعاقبتهم على ذنوبهم، وخلفوا بشأن ذلك العديد من الملاحم والأساطير الدينية مثل "أسطورة أتراخاسيس" و"ملحمة جلجامش"، ولخطورة بعض الأمراض فقد تنبأوا بحدوثها من خلال رصد حركة الكواكب والنجوم، وكذلك نظروا في أحشاء القرابين والنذور لتجنب خطرها وأخذ الاحتياطات اللازمة بشأنها، وبصرف النظر عن العلاج الطبي فقد لجأوا إلى الكهنة والمعزمين الذين استعملوا وسائل عديدة للعلاج منها التطبيب بالماء، فالمياه هي أصل الوجود والحياة، ولذا فهي قادرة على تطهير الانسان من العلل والأمراض حسب معتقداتهم الدينية. The diseases and deadly epidemics are problems that have plagued human health since ancient times. The Iraqis attributed the causes of disease to the demons and evil spirits that the gods cast upon people to punish them for their sins. They left behind many epics and religious legends such as the myth of Atrakhasis and the Epic of Gilgamesh, Given the danger of certain diseases, they predicted that they would happen by observing the movement of planets and stars, and They also looked at the bowels of offerings and vows to avoid their danger. In addition to medical treatment, they resorted to priests, who used many methods of treatment, including water treatment because the Water is the origin of existence and life, Therefore, he is able to purge man of diseases according to their religious beliefs.
