Résumé: شهدت الدولة الزيانية مع منتصف القرن 8ه/ 14م فترات صراع على السلطة بين أفراد الأسرة الحاكمة تعددت أسبابه ومبرراته، وإن كانت أغلبها بتحريض من الخصمين بني مرين وبني حفص، زيادة على الدور الخطير الذي أداه الإسبان في إثارة هذا الصراع داخل البيت الزياني. إلا أن العامل الداخلي المتمثل في السعي للوصول إلى السلطة واعتلاء العرش كان أبرز هذه المبررات والدوافع، إذ لاحت داخل الأسرة الزيانية بوادر الخروج عن الطاعة و الطمع في السلطة، حيث أضحى اعتلاء العرش الزياني طموح كل فرد من أفراد الأسرة الحاكمة الذين لم يدخروا أية وسيلة من أجل الوصول إلى مبتغاهم حتى ولو كانت الاستعانة بالغريمين التقليديين، بني مرين وبني حفص، والانضواء تحت لواءهم والخطبة باسمهم دون مراعاة أية عواقب لذلك. وقد كان لهذا الصراع آثار جمة على البعدين الداخلي والخارجي انعكست سلبا على الأوضاع الأمنية والاقتصادية والاجتماعية لمجتمع المغرب الأوسط وتسببت في تقويض مجال الدولة الزيانية، الأمر الذي أدى إلى تصدعها وانهيارها. ولم تنته هذه الصراعات إلا بنهاية الدولة الزيانية، مما أتاح الفرصة أمام الأتراك العثمانيين للظهور على الساحة السياسية للمغرب الأوسط.
