Résumé: This study aimed for the recognition of social identity of the users of social medias, by specifying the difference in social identity between the students of the University of Kasdi Merbah Ouargla and the students of the University of Algiers2 who use social media, and finding the relationship between social identity and social medias.To achieve the objectives of the study,comparative approach was adopted, and the sample was selected by the cross-sectional method. The sample included (692) male and female students from the University of Algiers 2 and the University of Kasdi-Merbah-Ouargla.To collect data, the social identity scale was used, which was developed by the researcher with reference to the literature on the subject, and the social media interaction scale for adolescents, SMES-A, prepared by (Ni et al., 2020), and was adopted, translated by the researcher, and presented to the experts.The psychometric properties of the Social Identity Scale and the Social Media Interaction Scale for Adolescents (SMES-A) were calculated using SPSS (22).The factorial validity of the social identity scale was calculated using SPSS (22), and the researcher relied on the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences, version (22) SPSS, in analyzing the hypotheses.The study found a high level of social identity among students at the University of Algiers 2 and students at the University of Kasdi-Merbah-Ouargla. And There are no statistically significant differences in the social identity of social media users between students of the University of Algiers 2 and the University of Kasdi-Merbah-Ouargla.The study also showed that there are no statistically significant differences in the social identity of social media users among students at the University of Algiers 2 and the University of Kasdi-Merbah-Ouargla, according to gender.The level of social media users is high among students of the University of Algiers 2 and the University of Kasdi-Merbah-Ouargla.There is also no inverse correlation between social identity and resorting to social media at the University of Algiers 2 and the University of Kasdi-Merbah-Ouargla.In addition, the use of social media cannot be predicted from the level of social identity among students at the University of Algiers 2 and the University of Kasdi-Merbah-Ouargla.
