Résumé: : تميزت السيرة الذاتية بمرونة الحدود فجعلت الإجماع على تعريف واحد لها أمرا صعبا يلحق بالمستحيل،كما تعددت دوافع كتابتها بين رغبة المؤلف في الخلود والتميّز،وبين ما هو ديني نفسي،ناجم عن تجربة روحية أحدثت تغيرا جوهريا في نفس المؤلف،وبين دوافع خارجية هدفها الدفاع عن النفس،أو تعليم الآخرين وتوجيههم،ومنها كذلك الاعتذار، التبرير،التعليل وهلم جر ... ترتكز السيرة الذاتية على بناء فني، يصوغها مؤلفها صياغة أدبية محكمة أساسها الوحدة والاتساق في البناء والروح، وأسلوب أدبي قادر على نقل كل التفاصيل عن التاريخ الشخصي للمؤلف.
