Assessing Code Switching In Chinua Achebe’s Writings: Case Of Study Things Fall Apart And Anthills Of Savannah

Résumé: Bilingual and bicultural authors have a very dynamic impact make-up of their literary works, Faced with the need to make their works available to a wide international readership. African writers are at times forced to relate their worldviews by writing in eastern colonial languages with employ various writing techniques to capture and convey the various facets of African life. As in sociolinguistics ,when picking out of particular language or dialect to increase the impact of human speech, one of the characteristic features of African creative writing is the use of code-switching as a writing technique, discursive and referential significance in a text Adopts an explanatory nature that focuses on qualitative method ,which examines the linguistic and cultural phenomenon of code-switching employed in tow of Chinua Achebe‘s novel Things Fall Apart and Anthills of Savannah. We discuss Achebe‘s Code-switching use from English into Igbo and Nigerian Pidgin English (NPE) adopting so as to address language dilemma in Nigerian literature for the readers all around the world we further infer how effectively and adequately could Chinua Achebe articulate the Nigerian culture in English and how he skillfully interwove his mother tongue in his creative works
