Self-directed Learning – An Effective Distance Learning Strategy During Pandemic Covid 19. The Case Of Master 1 University Of Msila

Résumé: Learning is important no matter what the circumstances were. The state of health witnessed by the world requires strategies to maintain the process of teaching and learning in an effective manner since the traditional way of teaching is not safe anymore. Students must learn from home. Hence, this research aims to investigate the effectiveness of self-directed learning as a distance learning strategy in Pandemic Covid-19. The hypothesis raised in this study sets out that self-directed learning is an effective strategy in distance learning process in pandemic Covid-19. Qualitative and quantitative studies are adopted in this paper. Twenty questionnaires were distributed to the teachers and twenty-five questionnaires to third year LMD students. The results obtained have shown that self-directed learning is an effective strategy in distance learning as self-directed learning increases students’ motivation and willingness to learn and enhances their familiarity with technology and made them confident, autonomous, self-reliant, motivated, and for sure responsible. Based on these findings, the government must take self-directed learning into consideration; students should also pay attention to the benefits of being self-directed learners especially in distance learning.
