Empowerment Of The Marginalized. A Marxist Reading Of Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games (2008).
Résumé: The current study focuses on Marxism and the empowerment of the marginalized category in Suzanne Collins The Hunger Games (2008) which is a young-adult dystopian novel. The main aim of this dissertation is to critically analyse and explore any form of inequality, basically, warfare as well as the domination and superiority of the owning class over the working class. Particularly, the domination of the ruling Capitol over the twelve districts of Panem. This dissertation consists of three chapters in addition to the introduction and the conclusion. The first chapter will provide background information necessary to understand some theoretical key concepts. The second chapter will analyse the characters in the light of the Marxist notion “Power” as it is viewed by Karl Marx and then utilizes the theory of class to discuss marginalization in the novel. The third chapter will first discuss the strategies used by the oppressed people so as to defeat the issue of class struggle, and then will discuss the mission from marginalization to empowerment.
