Résumé: This study, titled "University Student' Representations of Startups," aimed to explore: • Identifying the representations of university students in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at KasdiMerbah University, Ouargla, regarding the competencies they possess, which are the core foundation for the realization of a startup project. • Understanding how the social environment contributes to shaping the social representations of university students in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at KasdiMerbah University, Ouargla, towards startups. • Recognizing the role of these representations in guiding the professional interests and future career choices of students in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at KasdiMerbah University, Ouargla.This study was conducted during the academic year 2023/2024 on a purposive sample consisting of 11 individuals. The study employed a qualitative methodology, with the main data collection tools being interviews, complemented by simple observations. The study reached the following conclusions: • The competencies represented by university students in the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at KasdiMerbah University, Ouargla, participating in startup projects, qualify them to enter the field of innovation and entrepreneurship. Thesecompetencies are primarilybehavioral and theoretical. • The social environment of university students participating in startup projects at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at KasdiMerbah University, Ouargla, significantly contributed to building their social representations of startups through social interactions and the exchange of ideas and experiences. • University students involved in preparing a graduation project to obtain a university degree—a startup at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at KasdiMerbah University, Ouargla—have developed representations of career prospects and job opportunities within the field of startups. These representations carry positive meanings, anticipating the success of these projects and their potential to create job opportunities and bring about positive changes, thus providing young people with a strong motivation for entrepreneurship.
