الإعلام الجديد وعلاقته بانتشار ظاهرة المثلية الجنسية لدى الشباب الجزائري

Résumé: The aim of this study was to investigate the relationship between new media (pornographic websites, social networking sites, movies, and TV series) and the prevalence of homosexuality among Algerian youth. We started with the main question: What is the relationship between new media and the spread of homosexuality among Algerian youth? We used a qualitative approach in this study to gain a comprehensive understanding and interpretation of the phenomenon under investigation. Data collection relied on interviews and participant observation as tools, with a sample of 10 researchers selected using snowball sampling. After conducting the research interviews, the data were presented and analyzed using Clark and Braun's thematic analysis method. The following results were obtained: • The relationship between pornographic websites and the prevalence of homosexuality among Algerian youth is one of cause and effect. Homosexuality is a result of the youth's addiction to following pornographic websites, which provide them with an opportunity to explore sexual relationships that are not present in Algerian culture. This exposure contributes to the formation and change of their sexual orientations from natural inclination to deviance. • The relationship between social networking sites and the prevalence of homosexuality among Algerian youth is both a means and an end. The youth use social networking sites as a means to achieve their goal, which is engaging in homosexual relationships. These sites serve as a refuge, bringing together individuals of this category within electronic groups that help them establish relationships in complete secrecy. • Movies and TV series did not have a significant relationship with the prevalence of homosexuality among Algerian youth, as the majority of this group (90%) lacks the cultural or financial resources to watch films or series produced by global platforms promoting homosexuality, such as Netflix and Disney. These platforms require a subscription and also demand a significant amount of time from the youth to watch a two-hour film or a series consisting of 25 episodes.
