Résumé: The drilling of oil wells depends mainly on the drilling mud, where this latter is the spirit of the well, so most of the problems that occur during drilling due to the change in physical and chemical characteristics of mud. When the mud program drilling is created, the mud is prepared with certain physical and chemical properties, but during the drilling there is a change in these properties (density, viscosity, etc.), which causes many problems during drilling, due to contamination of the ions, as for the formations (cement, gypsum, salts, etc.) or from additives at the surface. In all cases the mud technician must perform the chemical measurements to clarify the ions present in the mud and to know their concentration. This makes it possible to detect the nature of the contaminations, to define the treatment and / or to control the chemical balance of the mud
