The Arabicization Of Medical Terms In Light Of Language And Terminology Planning

Résumé: Due to the intensive flow of scientific and technological terms, and the need for Arabic to keep up with the scientific movements and developments, Arabic language academics were established as landmarks in different countries of the Arab World to emphasize the need for creating new terminology in Arabic. The researcher’s main concern in this study is interested in the process of word creating called Arabicization. The present study attempts to answer many questions among which: To what extent is the Arabicization of medical terms in the textbooks of medicine done accurately? To what extent are the medical terms Arabicized by the Academy of Arabic language acceptable by the users (Physicians and Medical Students)? What are the factors that determine the acceptability of the Arabicized Medical term?
