Résumé: يراود الإنسان منذ القدم طموح التخلص من الصفات الغير مرغوب فيها وسعيه الدائم لاكتساب قدرات خارقة، وهو المشروع الذي يطمح إليه اليوم دعاة ما بعد الإنسانية والقائم على تعزيز القدرات البشرية بالاعتماد على تطبيقات التكنولوجيا الحيوية وعلى الهندسة الوراثية بوجه الخصوص والتي تسمح بوضع تعديلات على الجينات رغبة في تعزيزه الاكتساب أفضل الصفات وأعلى القدرات. وهو ما يراه ممن يدافعون عن القيم الإنسانية خطرا حقيقيا على مستقبل الطبيعة البشرية، باعتبار أن التعديل الجيني هو التعديل في طبيعة الإنسان وأنه انتهاك للخاصية الجوهرية التي شَكلت دوما إحساسنا بكينونتنا.
