Symmetric And Asymmetric Effect Of Exchange Rate On Economic Growth In Algeria During The Period (1990-2020)
Résumé: This study examines both symmetric and asymmetric effect of exchange rate on economic growth in Algeria from 1990 to 2020 using ARDL and NARDL model. The ARDL model results showed that exchange rate does not affect economic growth in the long-run. But after the separation of the real effective exchange rate into positive and negative changes in the NARL model, the results showed that the overvaluation of the Algerian Dinar negatively affect economic growth but the depreciation of the Dinar promote the economic growth.
