Résumé: This study, entitled “Publishing of caricatures images via social networks and their role in criticizing social reality in Algeria”, it aimed to conduct a semiological analytical study of a sample of caricatures on Facebook pages. It try to answer to the following main question: Did the connotations contained in the Caricature images published on social networks contribute to criticism the social reality in Algeria? This main question includes sub-questions as follows: - What are the most prominent components of the caricature images? - What are the meanings and connotations carrying by caricatures images? - What are the most important topics and issues addressed by critical caricatures images of social reality? - What are the functions achieved by caricature images through criticizing the social reality? To answer this problem, we adopted the semiological approach, and used the both approaches of "Roland Barthes" and "Martin Joly" to reach the desired results from this study. In addition, we relied on the interview tool, which was conducted with the caricature artist Abd El-ghani Ben Hariza. This study concluded that the caricature image published on social networks, especially Facebook, has contributed to accurately criticizing the social reality of Algeria, in an attempt to reflect the image of Algerian society and highlight all the issues and concerns that affect the Algerian citizen, which are mixed between the main component and The visual component carries many different meanings and connotations that aim to deliver specific messages, aiming to achieve certain functions, such as the awareness function, the news function, and the critical function.
