Résumé: Controversy of “the ego and the other” in my novels "After sunset" and "Confused grams" This is a research of "The Controversy of the Ego and the Other" by the Egyptian writer Mohamed Abdel Halim Abdullah in his first two novels: First one is the novel "After the sunset", which is a vivid example of the ego and the other’s controversy, as it is a biography whose owner suffered a lot socially and tasted the ravages of life, as It is a realistic picture of the torments of years, It argued others, starting with relatives who did not pay much attention to the poverty that afflicted the writer and his family after the loss of his father’s land in foreclosure, and go through the search for a source of livelihood after he was blocked by hunger, he found only the land of Farid Bek the rich; in which he worked as a guard, to link emotionally to a princess the daughter of the rich man, by the end his lover who refused to beengaged with him, thing that may him to suffer more, he leaves the world and runs away to live in Cairo with books and writing, after twenty years the novel "After sunset" falls in the hands of that lover, she apologizes to him, he understand finally that the will prevented her from marrying a poor man. Hence, the novel is an "Autobiography" needed to study the psychology of the ego and its dialectical relationship to the other. The second novel, "Confused Gram," which deals with the first one in the same matter of the dispute of ego with the other, whether this other is relative, stranger, lover, friend, or even life itself, and its cruelty to him. This comes through the data of artistic sincerity in the expression, and what befell the family of the writer after the Second World War and the class difference that he played a lot, so the incident of his love for that girl and the girl's refusal to marry him due to his poverty, is the bomb that exploded what was inside him in pages of this novel with a lot of pain and tales. The class difference that humiliated and insulted him, and the end was the darling that gave him in the beginning a force of love to be reckoned with, then she repudiated him, so his works were a realistic expression of life, and the pattern of imagination became based on doubt in everything, and self-expression became a way of the writer, no longer believed anyone after the break from the princess who is the daughter of the wealthy, not only that but also life and its effects.
