Résumé: The current study aimed to reveal the relationship between psychological independence and academic ambition on the one hand, and the dimensions of psychological independence (ideological independence, conflict independence, emotional independence, and functional independence) and academic ambition on the other hand, among a sample of first master students in the Department of Psychology and Education Sciences, Chahid Hama University, El-Oued. To achieve the goal of the study, the researchers used the descriptive correlative approach, and relied on two tools. A tool for the psychological independence of Fawqiah Hassan Radwan (2004) and a tool for academic ambition by ZiadBarakat (2009), which was re-amended by Younes Ababa and Abdel-KamelKanesh (2020). The questionnaire was distributed to a sample of 120 male and female students who were chosen by accident, The statistical treatment was carried out using (SPSS 25). the results of the study resulted in the following: 1- No statistically significant correlation between psychological independence and academic ambition among first master's students. 2- No statistically significant correlation between emotional independence and the tendency towards excellence among first master's students. 3- No statistically significant correlation between independence conflicts and achievement motivation among first master students. 4- No statistically significant correlation between functional independence from the mother and the self-abilities and potentials of the first master's students.
