Risk Assessment Of Distillation Column C5 At Skikda Refinery Using Functional Modeling (d-higraph)
Résumé: Chemical process accidents continue to occur, resulting in significant financial losses and, tragically, numerous human casualties. This persistence highlights the limitations of traditional hazard analysis techniques, which struggle to address the growing complexity and scale of modern chemical plants and petroleum refineries. To overcome these challenges, we propose a novel method: the HAZOP Assistant, which is based on D-higraphs and employs a functional modeling approach. This methodology effectively integrates both functional and structural information of the process under study. The HAZOP Assistant is demonstrated and applied to the Column-C5 unit of the RA1K refinery, located in the petrochemical platform of Skikda. Finally, a comparative analysis is conducted between the D-higraph-based HAZOP Assistant (DHA) and conventional HAZOP analysis, showcasing the advantages of this innovative approach.
