Les Implants Toriques Pour La Prise En Charge Des Patients Atteits De Cataracte

Résumé: Cataract is the leading cause of blindness in the world ahead of glaucoma and AMD. Previously, cataract surgery was primarily intended to remove the blinding opacification of the lens. Technological advances have emerged that cataract surgery has undergone major refinements over the past five years. However, despite the reduction in the size of the incision and the advent of foldable and injectable biomaterials which minimize the risk of induced astigmatism, the visual result remains limited by the persistence postoperatively of a cylindrical error pre-existing to surgery. . This obstacle could be circumvented by the use of intraocular implants with a toric design. Toric implants are nowadays more and more used during cataract surgery. They offer the possibility of effectively treating our patients with astigmatism during lens surgery. Our patient has a cataract with astigmatism. The management of this patient is based on a diagnosis, clinical examinations, complementary and a surgical intervention with a multifocal toric implant. The implant power is calculated from different empirical formulas, which depends on several parameters such as keratometry, axial length and depth of the anterior chamber.
