Résumé: اتخذ الفن الإسلامي أشكالا متنوعة في الزخرفة، محتفظا بالشخصية الموحدة، ومنفردا بخصائص ميزته عن غيره من الفنون العالمية الأخرى. هذا ما لمسناه في عناصر الزخرفة الجصية بمساجد تلمسان المختلفة الحقب التاريخية، ولهذا السبب اعتبرت هذه العناصر الزخرفية مصدرا ماديا مهما للتوثيق الأثري، والعناية بها والحرص على سلامتها يعني حماية للتاريخ الجزائري، وأهم حماية تقدم لهذا الجص الأثري هو توفير له كل ما يلزم للحد من عوامل تلفه خاصة عامل الرطوبة التي تشكل أخطر عامل يهدد هذه المادة الحساسة، إضافة إلى ترميم العنصر الزخرفي، بطريقة جيدة دون تغير مادته أو شكله، لأن أي تغير يعتبر هتكا وتزويرا للحقائق المادية التاريخية الأثرية.
