Study And Implementation Of Inter Prediction In The Latest Video Compression Standard Vvc/h.266
Résumé: Inter prediction in Versatile Video Coding (VVC) enhances video compression efficiency by predicting frames based on temporal redundancy, leveraging previously encoded frames to forecast future frames. This process uses motion estimation and compensation techniques to model the motion of objects across consecutive frames. VVC introduces advanced tools like affine motion compensation, sub-block motion refinement, and merged motion prediction, improving accuracy and reducing bitrate. These innovations enable higher compression ratios without significant loss of quality, optimizing storage and transmission of high-resolution video content. The problematic is how to implement the inter prediction in software. In our work we were given the implementation software of inter prediction derivation mode under matlab and python environments and we had the same results in the majority of cases
