Résumé: Hybrid model of education is a learning alternative to online classes, which have been widely spread during Covid 19. Unlike a fully online course, where students may never get to see each other and their instructors, a hybrid course mixes face-to-face meeting with remote learning. This new teaching format offered several advantages, chief among them flexibility. Nonetheless, it is still doubted whether hybrid instruction would bring the best ends of both traditional and virtual worlds together. Hence, this study seeks to shed the light on the attitudes of freshmen of English Department at Assia Djebar Teacher Training School in Constantine (ENSC) towards hybrid teaching/learning of oral English . In order to check these attitudes, a questionnaire was administered to 63 ENSC freshmen. The investigation's findings indicated that the majority of students expressed their satisfaction with hybrid teaching /learning, while the minority desired to return to traditional teaching method. The latter mentioned several challenges that prevented them from attaining a satisfactory speaking level; they reported low internet speed, and a lack of interaction and instant feedback as the major issues behind their negative attitudes. However, a large proportion of students revealed that online learning as a new format was more powerful and effective than traditional classroom learning. Finally, we conclude with important recommendations for effectively implementing hybrid teaching /learning in EFL classrooms.
