Initiation Of Using Translation In Teaching And Learning English Case Study :
Résumé: Translation is an important method that should be included in the process of teaching and learning English language. The present paper focuses on the use of translation as a method to teach and learn English language as Translation has a several benefits. Especially when it is used in teaching and learning activities, such as writing, reading, speaking, listening as well as in the improvement of vocabulary and grammar. For this reason, translation can be considered as a practical method that makes the teaching and the learning of English language simple. The present research aims to examine the effectiveness of using translation as a method to teach and learn English language on EFL students. For this reason, a case study was done with Second year License students, English Department, Medea University. The results taken from the questionnaires revealed that translation is a valuable and beneficial method, another obvious outcome revealed by the results is that translation works on evolving the students’ language skills (writing, reading, speaking, and listening) additionally on the expansion of grammar and vocabulary. The findings show that translation is really an efficient method to teach and learn English language.
