Qualitative Evaluation And Compostability Of Biomass Resources From Olive In The Delegation Kalaa Kebira (tunisian Sahel)
Résumé: The pomace exhausted and the Olive Mill Wastewaters (OMW) are by-products obtained from the extraction of olive oil with a significant environmental problem in all Mediterranean countries olive growing. The fields of application of sub olive products are many and varied. They can be valued, among others, as source of organic matter (Composting). In this context, we discussed the qualitative characterization, by limiting some physicochemical parameters, of the by-products olive in the delegation of Kalaa Kebira in Sousse (Tunisia), while enjoying their aptitude to composting. The results showed that the pomace exhausted which are essentially dry, rich in carbon and in crude fiber and poor in nitrogen, can be used as compost for soil fertility and improved crop productivity by mixing with other available sources of plant origin such as crushed green waste and/or livestock such as cattle, sheep or poultry manure that are different in nature and vary in quality according to their proportions. The Humidification can be achieved with OMW, to improve the mineral composition of compost produced.
