Industrial and technological advances have heightened international concerns about protecting the environment from nuclear radiation around the world. As a result, several international conferences have been organized to address this issue. The results of these meetings, which ended in the form of treaties, reflect the efforts that have been made to counter this type of environmental threat. In addition, international bodies have been established to give effect to the agreed international legal instruments related to such important field. Thus, the most and leading organization that has been established is the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), which come up with a set of standards and regulations aiming to prevent and/or fight against nuclear radiations. However, the assessment of international instruments in force and the adopted institutional framework revealed that notwithstanding efforts that have been done the threat persists, and some occurred incidents resulted in serious pollution. Therefore, the adopted international legal instruments suffer from some deficiencies.
