Résumé: This study aimed to highlight the relationship between banking competition and the financial stability of the banking system and the extent to which each is affected by the other The sample included the Algerian banking system during the period from 2000 to 2021, and the market concentration index of assets (HHI) was relied upon to measure competition and the Z-score index to measure financial stability and the rate of inflation as one of the external factors affecting the financial stability of banks operating in Algeria. This is done using the Eviews program. The study concluded that the Algerian banking system knows considerable financial stability, and that the competition between Algerian commercial banks is weak due to the high degree of market concentration, and that both banking competition and the rate of inflation have an adverse effect on the financial stability of the Algerian banking system
