Food Habits As A Cultural Approach To Enhancing Esp For Nutrition Education Through Social Media
Résumé: This paper explores the current methodologies for teaching English for Specific Purposes (ESP) in light of globalization and technological progress. The aim of this research is to investigate how incorporating eating habits and culinary practices as a cultural approach through the utilization of social media can enhance ESP instruction for nutrition students. A comprehensive literature review was opted for through highlighting a number of case studies and practical applications of using social media and food-related content in ESP. Findings from the psychological perspective reveal that the application of social media, such as YouTube and Instagram, into ESP classroom enhances the students’ motivation. From the linguistic perspective, this integration fosters their language skills as well as their intercultural communicative competence. These findings recommend the integration of culturally diverse content and interactive tasks related to food habits in ESP curriculum using social media for effective instruction.
