Real Time Water Monitoring System For Tilapia Farms

Résumé: Tilapia farming is an increasingly growing industry that provides a source of protein worldwide. However, the sustainability of these aquaculture systems is disturbed by environmental threats that can affect the quality of water, such as salinity, pH, temperature, and turbidity. These parameters present danger for the health and growth of tilapia, and any change that occurs would increase risk in mortality rates and economic losses. This project presents the need for consistent monitoring of water in tilapia aquaculture farms. Traditional methods of water quality are not efficient, time-consuming, and most of the time would not succeed in providing real-time data, which could harm the fish population, Tilapia farmers face challenges in maintaining the best possible water conditions, as the lack of immediate notification can result in late reaction to environmental danger leading to growth problems, disease spreading, and even massive fish mortality. This system utilizes advanced sensors integrated with IoT technology, creating a network of real-time monitoring devices. These sensors provide a constant measure of the water’s salinity, pH, temperature, and turbidity values, controlled by an ESP32 card. The collected data is to be processed and analyzed to notify the business owner of potential threats to the fish. The development of this system provides a significant contribution towards the advancement of aquaculture offering a cost-effective, efficient and scalable solution for tilapia farms ensuring the health of their fish and the sustainability of their business, The ability of the system to monitor and notify about threats lead to better managed farms providing better production results.
