'multiple Intelligences Theory In Efl Textbooks: A Comparative Evaluation Between ‘spotlight On English Book 1’ And ‘my Book Of English Book 1

Résumé: In the Algerian education context, the textbook is the primary tool used in classrooms. It is the concrete resource which embodies the curriculum objectives. It is why the Algerian Ministry of Education made reforms in 2016 to improve the quality of textbooks proposed in 2003. The present paper aimed to compare and analyze two textbooks of first-year middle school based on multiple intelligences theory. The chosen textbooks were scrutinized by the use of EBadi and Beigzedeh’s checklist. The findings revealed that the most predominant intelligences on both textbooks were the linguistic/verbal intelligence, followed by the logical/mathematical and the interpersonal intelligences. It was noted that there was no occurrence of the naturalist intelligence on both textbooks. The results also unveiled that the new textbook did not bring changes in the real application of multiple intelligence theory. يعتبر الكتاب المدرسي الوسيلة الأساسية و الوحيدة المستعملة في التعليم بالجزائر, و هو الذي يجسد الأهداف المسطرة في المنهاج الدراسي. على هذا الأساس عمدت وزارة التربية و التعليم في الجزائر القيام بتعديلات في سنة 2016 و التي مست كتب التعليم المتوسط للغة الإنجليزية. يهدف البحث الحالي إلى تقييم و مقارنة كتابي السنة أولى متوسط في ظل نظرية الذكاءات المتعددة. أثبتت النتائج أن الذكاء اللفظي هو الأكثر تواجدا في الكتابين, متبوعا بالذكاء الرياضي/المنطقي و الذكاء الإجتماعي. بينما لا وجود للذكاء الطبيعي في الكتابين. ومن هنا, يمكن القول أن إصلاحات الجيل الثاني لم تطل تطبيق نظرية الذكاءات المتعددة في الكتب المدرسية.
