Feasibility Study Of Solar Drying Of Clay Bricks. Case Of Clay Of Touggourt Region
Résumé: This thesis examines the use of solar energy for drying clay bricks as an ecological and economical alternative to industrial methods. The work includes a bibliographical study on solar drying and its environmental and economic advantages, a detailed descriptive study of the brick manufacturing process in brickworks and an experimental study in which a solar dryer was designed and manufactured for the purpose of testing the possibility of solar drying of clay bricks. During this study, several experiments were carried out, the thermal efficiency of the solar dryer was tested and the drying parameters were analyzed. The results obtained show that the solar dryer manufactured can be used for solar drying of clay bricks, given the drying air temperatures reached during the experiment (72°C). The solar drying time for a clay brick under a temperature range of 40°C to 72°C was found to be five (05) hours. The quality of bricks dried with the solar dryer was compared with that of bricks dried by the industrial method. The results obtained initially show the possibility of using solar energy for drying clay bricks. The aim of this work is to propose alternatives for improving drying processes in the brick industry, in the hope of encouraging the adoption of sustainable technologies and reducing the sector's ecological footprint.
