Résumé: أُعتبرت مظاهرات 8ماي 1945م محطّة فاصلة ومنعطف هام في مسيرة تاريخ الجزائر، إذ تجدر الإشارة أن هذه المظاهرات كان لها وقعٌ وتأثير على كامل التراب الوطني، حيث يلاحظ في ذلك خروج الشعب الجزائري في مظاهرات سلمية في غالبية المدن الجزائرية، كحال مدينة سيدي بلعباس، مردّدين فيها شعارات باستقلال الجزائر، حاملين الراية الوطنية الجزائرية لتذكير فرنسا "بوعودها"، ومن جهة أخرى معبّرين فيها عن سخطهم ورفضهم لبقاء الاستعمار الفرنسي في الجزائر، فما كان من الإدارة الاستعمارية إلا أن واجهت هذه المظاهرات بأساليب قمعية وباستعمال أقصى درجات العنف والإجرام ضدّ أناس عزّل، حجّتهم في ذلك أن هذه المظاهرات خرجت من أجل إثارة الشغب في أوساط المدن الجزائرية، فكانت نتيجة ذلك أن دفع الشعب الجزائري حصيلة الآلاف من الضحايا قدّرت بخمسة وأربعون ألف شهيد، ناهيك عن الاعتقالات العديدة. The demonstrations of May 8th, 1945 were seen as a watershed and an important turning point in Algeria’s history, as it should be noted that these demonstrations had an impact on the entire national territory, noting that the Algerian people had staged peaceful demonstrations in most Algerian cities, such as the city of Sidi Bel Abbes, chanting slogans of Algeria's independence, carrying the Algerian national flag to remind France of its "promises" and expressing their indignation and rejection of the survival of French colonialism in Algeria. However, these demonstrations were confronted with repressive methods and using the utmost violence and criminality against unarmed people, arguing that these demonstrations were organized to provoke riots among Algerian cities, as a result of which the Algerian people paid the death toll of thousands of victims estimated at 45,000 martyrs, not to mention numerous arrests
