Résumé: The crime of customs smuggling is one of the most serious crimes threatening the State in economic, social and security terms and has recently become widespread and sophisticated in several areas, owing to economic openness in trade. Algeria is one of the States that suffers from this phenomenon. It has struggled through the drafting of laws and orders for the follow-up of this crime. Algerian legislation has tried to combat it in all legal ways and by means of sophisticated means of promptly examining and proving it in order to deter and reduce the prevalence of such crimes. The purpose of this protection is to achieve the public and private objectives, as well as the State's economic, social, political and security objectives. It was therefore necessary for the legislator to adopt a serious strategy of relevance among a range of repressive and preventive mechanisms.
