Etude De L’élimination De Nitrates Présents Dans D’eau Par Argile Acidifiée Ou Bien Par Poudre De Charbon Actif

Résumé: Water is of most importance in life and use it requires compliance with quality standards. In recent years, water has witnessed an increase in the percentage of nitrates, and in some areas it exceeded the permissible standard (50 mg / L), and this is a result of industrial waste and the intensification of agriculture or human activity in general. Agriculture is the main source of nitrate pollution of water due to the use of fertilizers to improve Production, It is necessary to find a way to treat water contamination with nitrates. This study aims to remove the nitrates present in aqueous solutions by adsorption process using powdered activated carbon (PAC), the natural bentonite of Mostaganem (Bb) and activated (Ba) with hydrochloric acid (HCl). After knowing the properties of bentonite and activated carbon by exposing them to infrared and X-ray diffraction; We studied the effect of several influencing factors on the adsorption process in order to be able to know the ideal factors; such as pH, the initial concentration of nitrates, the change in the mass of the adsorbents used, all demonstrated a remarkable effect on the adsorption capacity of each adsorbent. We also studied adsorption kinetics to reach the equilibrium time, and modeled it using model pseudo-first order and pseudo-second order. In addition, the equation of Langmuir and Freundlich has been shown to better describe the experimental isotherms data. The obtained results also showed that activated charcoal powder is the most effective in removing nitrates.
