Résumé: نظم ميثاق الأمم المتحدة والنظام الأساسي لمحكمة العدل الدولية عمل المحكمة كجهاز قضائي رئيسي لمنظمة الأمم المتحدة، وحددت نصوص النظام الأساسي للمحكمة القواعد الموضوعية لانعقاد اختصاص المحكمة، وأهم الكيفيات التي تتناسب ومقتضيات القانون الدولي، كما أن النظام الأساسي للمحكمة ولائحتها الداخلية تضمنا أهم القواعد الإجرائية التي يمكن للدول المتنازعة من خلالها رفع دعوى أمام المحكمة سواء تعلق الأمر بالإجراءات الكتابية أو الشفهية بما يضمن سير العمل القضائي للمحكمة.
