Résumé: The objective of this thesis is to study experimentally the influence of the arid climate on the cracking of concrete in the region of Adrar in the south of Algeria. In this context, our work was based on experimental tests, in the same climatic conditions of this region and with local materials. The study of the cracking of the concretes was carried out by respecting the ASTM C1579 standard. These concretes were formulated according to the two known methods of formulation, in this case for Faury and for Dreux-Gorisse. The tested concretes followed three variants: concrete with admixture, concrete treated by curing and control concrete without admixture. All our concrete specimens underwent two preservation modes, inside the laboratory and outside. The results showed that all the concretes made with Faury's method showed cracks. However, with the introduction of the admixture, we recorded a decrease in cracks of about 50% in length and 66% in width. This reduction was evaluated at about 40% in length and 50% in width, after treatment by the cure. Compared to the concretes made with the Dreux-Gorisse formula, a decrease in cracks of 47% and 100% was recorded in the successive exterior and interior modes of the concretes without admixture, and 100% for all types of concretes containing the admixture, and those treated by curing were 33% lower in the exterior mode, and 100% lower in the interior mode. The optimization of the formulation based on local materials according to the Dreux-Gorisse method, resulted in satisfactory concrete mixtures, containing 80%SD and 60%SD for both consistencies; very plastic and plastic with admixture
