Résumé: Fish are a source of biologically valuable proteins. The common carp, Cyprinus carpio (Linnaeus, 1758), is apparently the most widely distributed fish species in many regions of the world. Owing to its adaptation to a wide range of climatic and geographical conditions,it has been found infested with a substantial number of almost all major taxa of parasites. It is generally known that external parasites constitute the largest group of pathogenic organisms of fish.Among these parasites, copepods can cause pathogenic effects in fresh-water fish farming. In view of this, a better Knowledgeofthedynamicsofparasitepopulationsisessential. This work concerns a study of the infestation, by ectoparasitic copepods, of120 individuals of Cyprinus carpio (Linnaeus, 1758) in Foum El Khanga dam (SoukAhras), at a rate of 30 individual fish per season. The examination of the gills of all sampled fish allowed the collection of 72 copepods belonging to three species: Ergasilus sieboldi (Nordmann, 1832), E. peregrinus (Haller, 1865) and Lernea cyprinacea (Linnaeus, 1758). It appears from this study that the values of the parasitic indices of the identified copepods are very high during spring (P = 53.33 %; A = 1.3; I = 2.44) and summer (P = 46, 66 %; A = 0.93; I = 2), whereas no infestation by parasites was found in winter. A Multivariate statistical analysis shows the influence of the microhabitat, the season and the size of Cyprinus carpio on the infestation of this fish by the three species of copepods. On the other hand, the host sex shows no correlation with parasitic infestation. Keywords: Dam Foum El Khanga (Souk Ahras); Cyprinus carpio; parasitic copepods; parasitic indices; season.
