Aspect Épidémiologique Des Malformations Congénitales À L’établissement Hospitalier Spécialisé De Mère Et Enfant Ouargla, De Juillet 2019-juillet 2021.

Résumé: A major public health problem, and a real cause of neonatal morbidity and mortality on a global and Algerian scale is congenital malformations. Objective : Determine the incidence of congenital malformations in the neonatology departement in Ouargla over a periode of 2 years (July 2019-July2021). Materials and methods : Descriptive, cross-sectional, retrospective study concerned the congenital malformations observed in newborns hospitalized at the OMR Bukhris Ouargla maternity hospital during the period from July 2019 to July 2021. Results : The incidence of congenital malformations is 4.59% of hospitalized newborns, where the polymalformative syndrome is the most frequent at 31,86% and the most represented isolated condition is hydrocephalus 13.7% followed by spinabifida 11.3%. 23% of newborns are premature, with an increase in higher birth weight, the sex ratio is 1.27 girls for boys. 47% of mothers aged > 35 years, 45.5% of them have a history of hypertension and 33% of diabetes, including 63.6% on insulin, half of the mothers are delivered by caesarean section. Regarding the diagnosis, the realization of the antenatal ultrasound is 52.7% of which the detection of a congenital malformation is 8.8%. Only 23% of newborns are treated surgically, and 53.8% died or the majority were not operated on. Conclusion : Congenital malformations of the neural tube are the most common among us in a diversity of maternal-fetal characters making research on risk factors for congenital malformations a very important subject to study.
