The Effectiveness Of The Veto Right In The Security Council; A Descriptive Analytic Study

Résumé: السلام العالمي هو أحد أهم الأهداف التي أنشئت من اجلها الأمم المتحدة. حق النقض للأعضاء الخمسة الدائمين في مجلس الأمن هو أداة مهمة تهدف إلى ضمان السلام العالمي. ومع ذلك ، فإن حق النقض هو حق مطلق للأعضاء الدائمين ، مما أدى إلى تجاوز بعض الاعضاء لهذا الحق في كثير من الحالات. يبحث البحث في كفاءة حق النقض في الحفاظ على السلام العالمي. اتبع هذا البحث المنهج الوصفي التحليلي لفحص مشكلة البحث. تشير نتائج البحث إلى أن انظمة حق النقض الحالية واسعة النطاق. ويوصي البحث بضرورة قيام الأمم المتحدة بإعادة تشكيل وتضييق نطاق حق النقض لتجنب تجاوز الأعضاء الدائمين لهذا الحق. World peace is one of the most significant objectives for which the United Nations was established. The veto right of the five permanent members of the Security Council is a critical tool that aims to ensure global peace. However, the veto right is an absolute right to the permanent members, which led to some exceeding usage of this right by some of the members in many cases. The research examines the efficiency of the veto right in maintaining global peace. This research followed the descriptive analytical method to examine the research problem. The research results indicate that the current veto regulations are too broad. The research recommends that the United Nations should reform and narrow the scope of the veto right in order to avoid exceeding this right by the permanent members.
