Tragedy Of The Common Man In Arthur Miller’s Death Of A Salesman (1949) And Abdelkader Alloula’sal Adjouad (1985)
Résumé: This dissertation is a comparative study between American playwright Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman (1949) and Algerian playwright Abdelkader Alloula’sAl Adjouad (1985). Our main interest in this research paper is to explore the affinities between the selected plays and investigate the ways into which they apply modern tragedy on the common man. We have borrowed Arthur Miller’s Tragedy and the Common Man. Throughout our study of the two works, we have reached the conclusion that, both Miller and Alloula focus on the depiction of the tragic fate of the common man. Our discussion is divided into three chapters. The first chapter, deals with common man’s normal life before tragedy, whereas the second chapter discusses struggle for dignity. The third chapter is about the tragic down fall of the modern hero.
