Desing And Implementation Of An Ultra-wideband Bandpass Filter With Single/double Band-rejection Characteristics
Résumé: A compact ultra-wideband (UWB) bandpass filter (BPF) with single and dual band notch characteristics is presented in this work. The proposed filter is based on a modified multiple mode resonator (MMR) and defected ground structure (DGS) units. The dual band notches at 5.55 and 8.5 GHz are obtained by embedding two slots in the ground plane. The obtained performances show that the filter with dual notch provides 116.2 % measured 3 dB fractional bandwidth, an insertion loss of 2.65 dB and a return loss better than 12 dB in the passband (3.1 – 11.7 GHz). The filter occupies an area of 1.12hg × 0.16hg mm2. It is fabricated using the commercially available FR4 with relative dielectric constant of 4.3, thickness of 1.62 mm, copper thickness of 0.035 mm and a loss tangent of 0.0017. An acceptable agreement is achieved between the simulated and measured results. This filter can be integrated in UWB radio systems and efficiently enhance the interference immunity from undesired signals of WLAN as well as the interferences from satellite communications.
