Typologie Des Élevages Camelins Dans Le Sahara Central Algérien -cas De La Région D’in Salah-

Résumé: The objective of this study is to highlight the different types of camel breeding systems in the Central Algerian Sahara represented by the region of In-Salah. A field survey was carried out with 32camel driver, spread over 2 zones (Fouggaret Ezzoua and Fouggaret ELarab). The data collected after parametric analysis made it possible to identify 3 types of camel breeding systems: i) - the extensive meat system represented by 63% of the approximate sample, characterized mainly by the exclusive use of natural rangelands to feed the camel herd in addition to a complementation envisaged according to the richness of the pastures and the objective set by the camel driver; ii) - the temporary intensive system with 6% of the surveyed population having as sole objective fattening. Both systems are primarily intended for meat production; iii) - the intensive sports and cultural dual-purpose system (31%) is characterized by the breeding of mehari-type dromedaries. In short, thanks to the specificities and aptitudes of the camel, the promotion of breeding, its products and services seem in the study region, like the great South of Algeria, to the local populations’ enormous services in the courts and medium term .
