Résumé: Multilevel inverter (MLI) technology has been strongly developed in recent years as a very important choice in the area of high power and voltage energy control. The major interest of of the MLI is the remarkable improvement of the spectral quality of its generated output signals without increase in the frequency of commutation of the switches. This work recall first the different topologies of multilevel inverters and presents secondly the most relevant control and modulation methods developed for this family of converter : the six-step modulation, multilevel sinusoidal pulse-width modulation and space-vector modulation (SVM). A more specific analysis of the last modulation is carried out. The SVM offers several degrees of freedom to optimize the waveforms, and it is well suited for implementation on a digital computer. The determination of switching instants may be achieved using the space vector modulation algorithm, which is based on the representation of the switching vectors in the (α,β) plan. However, the SVM algorithm of multilevel inverter is much more complex than that used in two-level inverter because most of existing multilevel SVM methods are dependent on the number of level. With the increase in the number of levels, the number of switching states allowed in the converters also increases rapidly. The main purpose of this work is therefore, to present different simple SVM algorithms for N level three-phase inverters. The algorithm is extremely efficient and is independent of the number of converter levels. At the same time, it provides good insight into the operation of multilevel inverters. We analyzed the mechanism of implementation of the switching vectors to have an output voltage having an image close to your desired reference voltage.
