Résumé: By addressing the problem of financing documentary credit and how to formulate it and the differences and similarities between Islamic and traditional banks, then we went to the theoretical side and this in detail aspects related to Islamic banks and traditional as well as the concepts of documentary credit and management mechanism and stages and comparison. On this basis, the case study was chosen as Islamic and traditional banks represented by Al Salam Bank - Algeria - and the Algerian Foreign Bank In this descriptive approach, we used the descriptive approach to know all aspects of the subject of the study in relation to the theoretical aspect and the analytical approach in the case study of the applied side, and we relied heavily on gathering the information on the interview to ensure its credibility. And reached several results, including: • The role of conventional and Islamic banks in the flourishing and expansion of international economic relations, and the expansion of foreign exchanges; • The documentary credit mechanism plays an important role in meeting the needs of the local economy and thus, in return, thinking about exports; There is consensus and coherence in the process of the process of documentary credit, whether in conventional banks or Islamic, and the difference lies only in the case of financing in whole or in part.
