Résumé: On Jun 23rd, 2016, in a historical Referendum, the decision was taken by the British public to leave the European Union. This divorce after four decades of membership revealed the underpin factors which contributed to the UK's hostility to the EU through history. Therefor, the aim of this study is to explore the main leads that derived Britain to take such a decision. Also, it takes the evolvement of these leads Over history into consideration in order to understand the Brexit narrative. Notably, these factors were empowered by the role of the media which shaped the public perception, increased the ambivalence to understand the Brexit. The referendum was an organized process due to the commitment of the authorities to ensure the participation of the majority of the public in deciding the future of their country and the total turnout proved it. Further, the sudden results highlighted the split of the British society over different categories. The referendum was the first step toward a hard and long transition period to decided new relationship with Europe. Also, the Brexit had various effects on Britain which was deepened by the hit of Covid 19; a dual blow that would be hard for the UK to deal with.
