Résumé: ملخص: هدف الدراسة: تروم هذه الورقة البحثية إلى معالجة السياسة الخارجية الروسية تجاه أوكرانيا انطلاقا من نظرية المجال الحيوي التي تَعْتَبِر الدولة كائنا حيا ينمو ويتوسع باتساع المصالح والأهداف، فبعد انهيار الاتحاد السوفياتي وتفكك دوله غابت روسيا الاتحادية عن الساحة الدولية لعقد كامل نتيجة انكفائها على ذاتها وترتيبها لشؤونها الداخلية، وهو ما سمح للولايات المتحدة الأمريكية بتعزيز نفوذها واستمالة عديد الجمهوريات السوفياتية السابقة للانضمام إلى حلف الشمال الأطلسي. المنهجية: تم الاعتماد على فرضية مفادها "تقوم سياسة روسيا الخارجية تجاه أوكرانيا على مبدأ السيطرة على الجوار القريب لتأمين المجال الحيوي الروسي"، إلى جانب توظيف "منهج دراسة الحالة". النتائج: وصول فلاديمير بوتين إلى السلطة عام 1999 أسهم في مراجعته لسياسة دولته الخارجية من خلال التركيز على المجال الحيوي واسترجاع مكانة روسيا الدولية، ممّا دفعه للاهتمام بأوكرانيا نظرا لموقعها الجيوسياسي ومركزيتها لدى الغرب وروسيا معا. الخلاصة: ما يفسر خطوة الغزو الروسي لأوكرانيا هو سعي الرئيس بوتين للسيطرة على الأقاليم الأوكرانية الشرقية والجنوبية الناطقة باللغة الروسية. Abstract: Objective: This research paper aims to address the Russian foreign policy towards Ukraine based on the theory of lebensraum theory, which considers the state as a living organism that grows and expands with the breadth of interests and goals. After the collapse of the Soviet Union and the disintegration of its states, the Russian Federation was absent from the international arena for an entire decade, as a result of its self-indulgence and its arrangement of its internal affairs. This allowed the United States of America to consolidate its influence and entice many former Soviet republics to join the North Atlantic Treaty Organization. Methods: The premise that "Russia's foreign policy toward Ukraine is based on the principle of controlling the immediate neighborhood to secure the Russian vital space" was relied upon, in addition to employing the "case study method". Results: the coming to power of Vladimir Putin in 1999 contributed to his revision of his country's foreign policy by focusing on the vital sphere and restoring Russia's international position, which prompted him to pay attention to Ukraine due to its geopolitical location and its centrality to the West and Russia together.
