Résumé: Including literature in teaching English as a foreign language is a very crucial idea to use. In fact, using short stories in EFL classes can help learners enhance their learning process thanks to their numerous benefits. One of the language skills that might profit from the use of short stories is oral performance. Since most EFL learners face difficulties in their oral performances like deficient vocabulary and inaccurate grammatical instructions, short stories are believed to be the appropriate solution to overcome these problems. Therefore, the present study aims at investigating EFL students' attitudes towards the use of short stories to enhance their oral performances. This study starts from the hypothesis that EFL learners will have positive attitudes the effect of using short stories to promote their oral performances. To carry out the descriptive method adopted, a questionnaire was administered to a sample of forty (40) third year LMD English students at Larbi Ben M'hidi University, Oum El bouaghi. After analyzing the results of the questionnaire, it is denoted that EFL students appreciate the use of short stories to promote their oral performances. On the basis of these findings, the hypothesis put forward was confirmed in that third year EFL students have favorable attitudes towards the effect of using short stories to improve their oral performances.
