Résumé: The Role of Symbolic Capital in Enhancing Communication within the University Institution** This study investigates how symbolic capital contributes to enhancing communication within the university setting. It focuses on a field study conducted with professors from the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Kasdi Merbah University, Ouargla. The aim was to understand the role of social relationships, social interactions, and scientific activities in improving communication effectiveness within the faculty. The primary question addressed in the study was: **How does symbolic capital contribute to enhancing communication within the university institution? This led to the following sub-questions: 1. Do social relationships impact communication effectiveness at the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, Kasdi Merbah University, Ouargla? 2. What role does social interaction play in establishing a healthy communication environment within the faculty? 3. How do scientific activities contribute to the communication process within the faculty? Methodology: The study employed a survey method, utilizing a questionnaire for data collection. – A total of 36 questionnaires were distributed, with 25 completed and returned, while 11 were not completed. – The final sample comprised 25 respondents out of a population of 163 faculty members. Findings: 1. Social Relationships: The study found that social relationships within the university do not significantly enhance communication effectiveness, as indicated by the majority of respondents. 2. Social Interaction: The role of social interaction in creating a healthy communication environment is moderate. Most social interactions among professors are based on shared specializations. 3. Scientific Activities: Scientific activities were found to significantly enhance the communication process, as they provide an effective platform for communication.
