Résumé: This recent study deals with linguistic criticism, not critical linguistics in spite of the strong link between them. It is based on the prescriptive criticism grounded on linguistics in forming the term of poetics. The study consists of two topics: While the first topic investigates the critical and linguistic approaches of the concept of “Poetics” in the old Greek and Arabic heritages in critics and criticism, especially the first insights of Aristotle and Arab linguists, the second concerns with the critical and linguistic approaches regarding the concept of “poetics” in the modern critical and linguistic schools, such as Jacobson's poetics, Tudorouf's poetics and poetics of some contemporary Arab critics.
