تلمسان في العصور العتيقة

Tlemcen passed then under the reign of Moorish kings, but we do not know whether it was occupied or not by the Vandals. تتوفر منطقة تلمسان على ظروف طبيعية ملائمة لاستقرار الإنسان، من تربة خصبة ومناخ من معتدل إلى جاف وثروة مائية معتبرة، مما ساعد على ازدهار الحياة بها منذ العصور الغابرة، وهو ما تؤكده المخلفات الأثرية التي عثر عليها في بحيرة قرار وبودغن وأوزدان. والتي تعود إلى آلاف السنين، كما تشير كل المعطيات إلى استمرار الحياة بها دون انقطاع، رغم صمت المصادر الأدبية. أما في العهد الروماني فقد تحولت إلى حلقة من حلقات خط الليمس الروماني، إذ أقامت بها السلطة الرومانية مركزا عسكريا لوحدة الاستطلاع البومارية نظرا لموقعها الاستراتيجي الذي يسمح بمراقبة شرق موريطانيا الطنجية ومنطقة السهوب. وقد تحولت في وقت قصير من معسكر إلى مدينة واسعة احتوت على كل مقومات المدينة الرومانية. وفي المجال الديني انتشرت بها الديانة الوثنية التي تجسدت في عبادة الكثير من الآلهة الرومانية إلى جانب الآلهة المحلية، ومع نهاية القرن الثالث انتشرت فيها الديانة المسيحية انتشارا واسعا بعد سيطرة الوندال على إفريقية. ومن الناحية السياسية، يظهر أنها تخلصت من الحكم الروماني ابتداء من نهاية القرن الثالث بعد أن قرار روما الاحتفاظ بالمناطق التي تمثل مجالا حيويا فقط, وبذلك انتقلت تبعيتها إلى حكام محليين، وقد استمر هذا الوضع حتى الغزو الوندالي الذي لا نعرف إن مر بتلمسان أم لا.
