Résumé: Adaptation of refrigerating machines to hot regions. Proposition of a Geothermal Air Cooler The purpose of this thesis is to propose a technological solution to solve the problem of refrigeration equipment malfunction when the ambient temperature reaches or exceeds the operating temperature limit of these installations. The principle of the proposed solution is to couple a finned coil air exchanger (air condensers or dry cooling towers) to a shallow geothermal source (air-to-ground exchanger). The coupling of these two heat exchangers has the geothermal air cooler (GAC) which is the subject of this memoir. The GAC mixes warm ambient air with fresh geothermal air using an air blender; then spread the air mixture over the entire front surface of the battery. To test the applicability of the GAC, we developed a calculation code in MATLAB language to size the different GAC components (air-to-ground heat exchanger, air mixer and dry cooling tower). The design results of the air-ground heat exchanger and the cooling tower are validated with other experimental studies obtained from the literature. Then, we analyzed the influence of some parameters, namely: the ambient temperature, airflow in the air-ground heat exchanger, length of the tubes ... on the outlet temperature of the airground heat exchanger, the mixer of air, the exchange surface of the tower by applying the climatic conditions of the region of Ouargla. The results show that the GAC can increase the operating limit temperature of a real cooling tower in the literature from 33 ° C to 40 ° C.
