Étude Des Instabilités Hydrodynamiques Et D’écoulements Magnétohydrodynamiques
Résumé: This work presents a numerical study of natural convection in a laterally heated cavity filled with an electrically conductive fluid 𝑃𝑟 = 0.0321 in the presence of an external magnetic field and an internal heat source. The resolution of the system of equations governing the magnetohydrodynamics flow is based on the finite volume method while the pressure-velocity coupling is treated using the SIMPLER algorithm. The influence of volumetric heating on the flow and on the heat transfer was examined for three different configurations i.e. a square enclosure, an annular space and a cube enclosure. A parametric study at steady state was carried out on the effects of aspect ratio, the Prandtl number (fluid with low Prandtl number), the radius ratio and the magnetic field in the presence of the internal heat generation. The onset of unsteadiness in the flow with periodic oscillation movement is related to the existence of the Hopf bifurcation. Two orientations of the magnetic field were considered in order to have better control of the flow. The strongest stabilization of the flow field with internal heat generation is found when the magnetic field is oriented horizontally (radially to the annular cavity).
